Alabama is one of only six states in the country that limits alcohol
by volume (ABV) for beer to only 6%, and the only state that limits beer containers to a size of no more than 1 pint
(16 American ounces).
Because of the current artificial definition of beer, more than one-third of
the styles of beer brewed around the world cannot be brewed or sold in Alabama. We’re one of the last states to “get
it,” in dubious company with North Carolina, Mississippi, Arkansas, South Carolina, and West Virginia. Click on the FREETHEHOPS logo to learn more.
